Management

Andrew Blyth – Patron

Andy’s career started at an early age playing at Tynedale RFC and then at Rugby School, here he showed great promise and this was reinforced with his selection for England U16 Schools. Two years later and Andy had developed into a real prospect for the future as he shone in all of his Midlands and England U18 games. Only a few years later Andy was representing England A, but in March 2000 whilst playing for Sale Sharks against Saracens a horrible collision left Andy a tetraplegic with little chance of walking, Andy has shown enormous courage to defy doctor's prognosis. Having shown incredible progress since leaving hospital, Andy is now able to move relatively freely and pursuing a career in Property Management.

Tony Rolt – Director of Rugby

Described as having more clubs than Gary Player, Tony crossed the playing spectrum from his Old Boys team to Rotherham, Roundhay, Richmond, Bath and Bridgwater over his brief playing career which was curtailed early with a serious achilles injury. Turning to coaching he achieved his full coaching award (Level III) at the age of 26 and was appointed a Senior Coach (Level IV) some 8 years later. Having coached schoolboys at the highest level, working with Andrew Blyth whilst Midlands 18 group coach, Tony combined this with coaching Maidstone RFC 1st team, Loughborough Students 1st team and two spells at Nottingham, as assistant to Alan Davis in the early 90’s and as a Director of Rugby some 6 years later. Over his time with all three clubs he took each one to a Middlesex Sevens Final, as well as mentoring senior England players such as Rob Andrew and Austin Healey. Currently he is working with Mark Bradley coaching Midlands side Derby and acting as a RFU mentor. His love of the game is still as passionate as ever.

Will Rolt – Manager

After a promising start to his career at the age of 16 William had a major setback when weeks before his England U16 trial he dislocated his shoulder which would keep him out of the game for a year. At U18 he was able to come back stronger and fitter and push Harry Ellis all the way to international honours. At this point Dusty Hare took a major interest and after William had travelled America he was invited to the Tigers Academy, where he would stay for 4 years and progress to the senior squad. Throughout this time he captained the senior sevens squad on several occasions where he led a young squad to the final of North Walsham and quarterfinals of Middlesex sevens. He is now seen as some what of a sevens specialist playing for a number of invitational teams all over the UK.

Kathryn Cassidy – Physiotherapist

After qualifying from Leeds University in 1997 as a Physiotherapist, Kathryn decided to specialise in sports injuries, acute trauma and acupuncture. With a keen interest in rugby; Derby RFC seemed the perfect place to pursue her knew found interest. Since Kathryn joined Derby RFC over seven years ago she has very quickly risen through the ranks of club and representative rugby in both the men’s and women’s game. In 2004 Kathryn became part of the England senior women’s physiotherapy squad, and has played a major role in helping the women’s game develop.
